Terms and Conditions
1. Introduction
Welcome to Grand Shades.
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the Grand Shades website and apply to any quotation, order, purchase, supply, installation or related service provided by Grand Shades, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
By accessing or using this website, or by placing an order with Grand Shades, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions.
If you do not accept these Terms and Conditions, you should not use this website.
2. Definitions
In these Terms and Conditions:
Customer means any person, business or entity that requests a quote from, places an order with, or purchases goods or services from Grand Shades.
Goods means any products supplied by Grand Shades, including but not limited to blinds, curtains, shutters, awnings, tracks, motors, fabrics, hardware and accessories.
Services means any service supplied by Grand Shades, including but not limited to consultation, site visit, check and measure, specification, coordination, delivery, installation, removal of existing window furnishings and after-sales support.
Website means the Grand Shades website and any related online forms, content, images and digital communications.
3. Website Use
You may use this website for lawful purposes only.
You must not use this website in any way that causes, or may cause, damage to the website or interferes with the availability, security or proper operation of the website.
All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, images, layout and design elements, is owned by or licensed to Grand Shades unless otherwise stated. You must not reproduce, copy, republish or distribute any website content without Grand Shades’ prior written consent.
4. Quotes and Orders
Any quotation issued by Grand Shades is subject to these Terms and Conditions unless stated otherwise in writing.
A quotation is not binding until accepted by the Customer and confirmed by Grand Shades.
Grand Shades may refuse or cancel any order, or decline to proceed with supply or installation, where:
- pricing or product information contains an error;
- the required goods are unavailable;
- site conditions make installation unsafe or impractical;
- measurements, specifications or approvals remain incomplete; or
- the Customer fails to provide information reasonably required to complete the order.
Any product images, samples, descriptions or website content are provided as a guide only. Due to the nature of fabrics, finishes, lighting conditions, manufacturing tolerances and screen display differences, minor variations may occur between samples, photography and the final product.
5. Pricing and Payment
Unless otherwise stated, all prices are in Australian dollars and include GST.
Prices may be varied before an order is accepted by Grand Shades. Once an order is accepted, the agreed price will apply unless the scope of work changes or a variation is requested.
Grand Shades may require a deposit, progress payment or full payment before goods are ordered, delivered or installed. Payment terms will be set out in the quotation, invoice or order confirmation.
If the Customer requests any variation after acceptance of a quote, including changes to product selection, measurements, configuration, quantity, fabric, finish, hardware or installation scope, Grand Shades may issue a revised price and timeline.
Grand Shades may suspend supply, delivery or installation where payment is overdue.
6. Consultation, Measure and Customer Approval
Grand Shades generally consults and measures at the same time so that the correct information is captured from the outset and suitable advice can be given based on the actual space.
All measurements, selections, specifications and product recommendations are made on the basis of the information available at the time of consultation and site inspection.
It is the Customer’s responsibility to review and approve the quotation, product selections, quantities, colours, finishes, configurations and any other relevant details before manufacture or ordering begins.
Once the Customer has approved the order and production or procurement has commenced, cancellation, exchange or refund may not be available simply because the Customer changes their mind, as many of Grand Shades’ goods are custom-made or specially ordered.
Nothing in this clause limits any rights the Customer may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
7. Custom-Made Goods
Grand Shades supplies many goods that are custom-made to suit the Customer’s windows, room layout, selected fabrics, hardware and operating requirements.
Because these goods are made specifically for the Customer, slight variations in colour tone, grain, weave, texture, stacking, alignment or finish may occur and will not, of themselves, amount to a defect.
If a Customer approves a measurement, specification, fabric or finish and later wishes to change it, Grand Shades is not obliged to accept that change once production has commenced.
8. Delivery, Access and Installation
Any delivery or installation date provided by Grand Shades is an estimate only unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
Grand Shades will make reasonable efforts to deliver and install within the estimated timeframe, however delays may occur due to manufacturing lead times, supplier delays, freight issues, site readiness, access issues, weather, illness, force majeure events or other matters outside Grand Shades’ reasonable control.
The Customer must ensure that the site is safe, accessible and ready for delivery and installation at the agreed time. This includes providing suitable access, clear work areas, available parking where practical, and any necessary authority to enter the site.
If existing window furnishings are to be removed, this should be agreed in advance. Grand Shades may remove old window furnishings if requested, but unless otherwise agreed in writing, Grand Shades is not responsible for storage, disposal or reinstatement of any removed items.
Grand Shades may refuse to install where site conditions are unsafe, incomplete, inaccessible or otherwise not ready for installation.
If Grand Shades attends site and cannot complete delivery or installation due to customer delay, lack of access, incomplete site conditions or other avoidable cause, Grand Shades may charge a reasonable reattendance fee.
9. Site Conditions and Customer Responsibilities
The Customer is responsible for ensuring that:
- the site is structurally sound and suitable for installation;
- electrical, building and finishing works required before installation have been completed;
- any required approvals, permissions or access arrangements have been obtained;
- children, pets and personal belongings are kept clear of the work area during installation; and
- Grand Shades is advised in advance of any site-specific risks, restrictions or hazards.
Where Grand Shades is asked to install into existing walls, tiles, timber, plaster, masonry, joinery, steel, recesses, pelmets or other surfaces, the Customer accepts that minor marking, drilling, patching, touch-up or reasonable installation impact may occur in the ordinary course of the work.
10. Risk and Title
Risk in the goods passes to the Customer upon delivery to the site or collection, whichever occurs first.
Title in the goods does not pass to the Customer until Grand Shades has received full cleared payment for the goods and services supplied.
Until title passes, the Customer must keep the goods in good condition and not sell, dispose of, alter or encumber them.
11. Australian Consumer Law
Grand Shades’ goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Consumer guarantees apply automatically to eligible goods and services and are separate from any additional warranty Grand Shades or a supplier may provide.
Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For major failures with the service, you are entitled:
- to cancel your service contract with us; and
- to a refund for the unused portion, or to compensation for its reduced value.
You are also entitled to choose a refund or replacement for major failures with goods.
If a failure with the goods or a service does not amount to a major failure, you are entitled to have the failure rectified in a reasonable time. If this is not done you are entitled to a refund for the goods and to cancel the contract for the service and obtain a refund of any unused portion.
Nothing in these Terms and Conditions excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy that cannot lawfully be excluded, restricted or modified.
12. Warranty
In addition to any rights available under the Australian Consumer Law, Grand Shades may provide a workmanship warranty and/or pass through applicable manufacturer or supplier warranties.
Unless otherwise stated in writing at the time of sale, Grand Shades provides a 12-month workmanship warranty from the date of installation for defects arising directly from Grand Shades’ installation work.
Any product-specific warranty, including any warranty from a manufacturer or supplier, will be subject to that warranty’s terms, exclusions and claim requirements.
A warranty does not cover:
- fair wear and tear;
- fading, discolouration or deterioration caused by ordinary exposure to sunlight, moisture, salt air or environmental conditions;
- misuse, neglect, abuse or accidental damage;
- alterations, repairs or adjustments performed by anyone other than Grand Shades or its authorised contractor;
- damage caused by building movement, structural issues, water ingress, electrical faults, storms, fire or other events beyond Grand Shades’ reasonable control; or
- failure arising from customer-supplied measurements, materials, instructions or specifications.
To make a warranty claim, the Customer must contact Grand Shades promptly, provide proof of purchase and give reasonable details of the issue, including photographs if requested.
Warranties are additional to, and do not replace, the Customer’s rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
13. Cancellations, Returns and Change of Mind
Because many Grand Shades products are custom-made, specially ordered or manufactured to the Customer’s approved specifications, Grand Shades does not accept returns, exchanges or cancellations for change of mind once production or procurement has commenced.
If the Customer wishes to cancel before production or procurement has commenced, Grand Shades may agree to the cancellation in writing, but may retain any reasonable amount to cover design, administration, consultation, measurement, supplier or other costs already incurred.
Nothing in this clause affects any rights the Customer may have where goods or services fail to comply with the Australian Consumer Law.
14. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Grand Shades will not be liable for any indirect, special or consequential loss, including loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity or loss of goodwill, arising from or connected with the supply of goods or services.
Where Grand Shades is liable for loss or damage, that liability is limited to the extent caused by Grand Shades’ breach, negligence or wrongful act, and is otherwise limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.
Grand Shades is not liable for delay, non-performance or additional cost caused by events beyond its reasonable control.

Grand Shades will take reasonable care to ensure that such material relates to the works completed and, where practicable, does not identify the Customer personally or disclose sensitive personal information without consent.
If the Customer objects to the use of project images or video for these purposes, the Customer must notify Grand Shades in writing before installation is completed. In the absence of such notice, the Customer is taken to have authorised Grand Shades to use the material in accordance with this clause.
